The Meadowlands

THE WORLDPLACES

From far outside the city boundaries, the rural communities that make up The Meadowlands are seething with frustrations. King's Rock acquired the land that made up these separate lots five years back and since then has proceeded to push out the farmers and hardworking animals that supply for the A.K. Many have speculated over the morality of this move, as the conglomerate has since plowed over the lands and added in technical processing facilities that fully automate the agriculture. This has made it more affordable for those that live back in the city, but for those in the Meadowlands, a way of life has been uprooted.

The denizens out here spend thier days mostly working as tradesfolk and artisans...building, growing, and creating everything they own from scratch materials. It's honest and hard work. With times as tough as now, this way of life has been threatened and families of animals are forced to send their posterity off to work in the city and help pay for the enormous taxes imposed by the corrupt land authorities.

Those that occupy The Meadowlands are forced to be hopeful, while more and more of the land is overtaken by corporate interest. The endless rolling grasslands once stretched directly into the archipelago that makes up the A.K., but now the urban sprawl encroaches further in, threatening the scenic landscape with urban development that smothers the nutrient rich soils that make it suited for abundant agriculture.
